Partnerships
Potential Areas of Focus for the partnership with Education Fund for students.
One of our core activities at Drug Fighters is provision of Education to orphans and vulnerable children. We have a primary school that caters for pupils from pre primary and primary up to class eight. We have a feeding program for the students, boarding facilities for some and running of the school as a whole.
We are looking for support from your organization on the following areas:
AREAS OF OPERATION
- Floor Renovation: In some of the classrooms, the floor is worn out and we need help to repair them for the safety of the pupils as well as reduction of dust during the dry seasons
- Staircase Renovation: The structure of the classrooms is storeyed, the staircase is wooden. Over the years, the wear and tear has left this weak and would greatly appreciate support in building a more long lasting staircase.
- Learning Books: Purchase of textbooks for use by the pupils
- Feeding Program: We have a feeding program for the pupils all through the year. As our firm picks up, we would like support with funds for the purchase of food for the pupils
- Remuneration: Support on school administration especially in salaries for teachers and support staff at the centre.
- Incomplete Construction: There are four classrooms that are not finished, they do not have a concrete floor, doors. We seek funds to enable us to finish these classrooms.
- School Fees: Support with fees for those students who are now in secondary schools.
Why is DFC needed?
30% of youths in Kibera slums are directly and indirectly engaged in drugs both in consumption and trafficking. Only one other organization other than Drug Fighters addresses the issue of drugs. Therefore, there was and still is a dire need to address this major menace.
Three hundred children have found a sanctuary and a haven of peace at the Drug Fighters centre where they get love, food, education, medical care and other basic needs. Seven girls have been rescued from FGM, early marriages and sexual abuse and given a second chance in life through Drug Fighters. Kibera community is now more enlightened about children's rights and responsibilities through drug fighters advocacy project. Eighteen youths have been rescued, their hope restored and their skills sharpened to enable them face life on their own with confidence.
